Understanding Your Monthly Billing Statement
Access Recovery Charge (ARC) - As permitted under the Federal Communications Commission rules, the Access Recovery Charge enables Colorado Valley Telephone Cooperative, Inc. to recover from end user customers, a limited portion of revenues lost due to FCC mandated reductions in intercarrier payments.
Basic Local Service - a monthly charge for the dial tone that enables you to make and receive telephone calls, to be listed in the telephone directory, and to receive a copy of the telephone directory.
Federal Subscriber Line Charge - a monthly charge on your local telephone bill, which enables local telephone companies to recover some of the costs of telephone lines connected to your home or business. This fee is regulated and capped by the Federal Communications Commission, not by state Public Utility Commissions. It is not a tax or a fee charged by the government.
Federal Universal Service Fee - a charge prescribed by the Federal Communications Commission to help keep local telephone service rates affordable to all customers, in all areas of the United States.
Texas Universal Service Charge - a charge that is a percentage of intrastate telecommunications services receipts. The purpose of the Texas Universal Service Fund is to enable all residents of Texas to obtain basic telecommunications services.
911 Fee - a charge added to your bill to support the operation of the 9-1-1 emergency telephone service in your county.
911 Equalization Surcharge - a state mandated monthly charge on all non-exempt local exchange access lines, equivalent access lines, and wireless telecommunications connections.
