General Summary

Essential Job Functions
- Installs new services and equipment for subscribers by installing drop wires, station protections and network interface devices. Wires new systems using appropriate tools.
- Maintains and repairs existing equipment by using test sets to locate line trouble.
- Determines necessary repairs which may include repairing wiring, station protectors, ground connections, running new wires and replacing jacks, lids and pedestals as needed.
- Completes all installation and repair related forms and reports.

Selects construction routes and determines equipment requirements. Prepares detailed construction and installation drawings and estimates equipment, labor, and material quantities. Interacts with customer and construction contractor crews during the facility build.
Essential Job Functions
- Prior to preparing Engineering documents, perform a field visit to meet with customer and determine proposed facility routes and determine quantities needed for construction.
- Plan and prepare drawings and staking sheets for new construction, removal or rearrangement of existing aerial or underground lines, cables, and conduits.
- Ensure compliance with RUS and industry specifications by staking all lines to be built.
- Organize and file necessary paperwork and staking sheets.
- Select routing of path creation and determines equipment requirements as appropriate.
- Prepare detailed construction and installation drawings. Estimates equipment, labor, and material quantities.
- Prepare necessary jurisdictional permits. (TxDoT, county, railroad crossing, pole attachments)
- Responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date facility record changes resulting from network construction using GIS Mapping system (CADTel) and facility assignment and service order management system (NISC).
- Requires the ability to work outside at times and meet with customers on location.
- Able to work with other departments in the course of work order construction and completion.

- Maintain a current and valid driver’s license to perform the duties of this position.

- Directs activities of outside plant, engineering and installation/repair through subordinate managers. Provides leadership to all areas of operations to ensure highest levels of customer service, quality, and cost effectiveness of products and services.

General Summary

Document results of splicing and testing. Will be splicing new construction fiber as well as working on and maintaining existing fiber in-service.
Essential Job Functions
- Splices fiber cables and cuts terminals for new construction. Maintains and repairs new cable plant and fiber optic lines by opening and terminating fibers.
- Maintains cable system by testing to locate trouble, opening cable to repair or replace defective sections, and closing and sealing cable.
- Identifies counts, and prepares for splicing as directed by engineering document.
- Transfers customers’ service from one cable and/or terminal to another by reworking cut sheets and assigning counts.
- Must be willing to work overtime and schedule night cuts and outage restorations.
